Let me take you back to Genesis, when sun and lies were first brought into the world.
“And the Woman said to the serpent, “we may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said’ you should not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, never show you touch it, lest you die.’” But the servant said to the woman “you were not Shirley die.” Genesis 3:2-4
In 100 Days to Brave, Downs reminds us that Eve was the first to fall for someone’s lies, but not the last. We as people are lied to on a daily basis. There are expectations set by others on how we should look, what we should wear, how we should eat, AND there are even people telling us how to raise our children. The worst part?
We believe them.
But guess what!? You don’t have to believe those lies any more.
Psalm 139:13-16 tells us:
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.”
HOW FREAKING COOL IS THAT!?
That the same God who created the oceans, mountains, sunrises, and sunsets saw the world and decided it needed you too.
God doesn’t make mistakes, and he sure as heck didn’t start with you. You are not a mistake. You were created in God’s image.
The world lies. People, lie. We hear these lies so frequently, we begin believe the lies ourselves.
The world, tries to shrink us and take away our brave. We can’t let it.
So, I have a challenge for you–every time you tell yourself I’m not good enough. I’m inadequate. I’m not good looking or smart enough. I don’t dress well enough. I am not enough. Take out the “not.” You we’re fearfully and wonderfully created in the image of God himself. You are beautiful. You are good enough.
Stand up against the lies- be brave. Be who you were created to be. One truth at a time.
